Keebler Foods Company
Newington, CT
USA
Customer:
Keebler Foods Company, a member of the Kellogg family, was founded in 1853. Keebler is the largest cookie and cracker manufacturer in the United States and markets its products under recognized brand names such as Keebler®, Famous Amos®, Cheez-Itz®, Ready Crust®, Murray Sugar-Free®, Plantation®, and Carrs®. Well known Keebler snacks include Zesta Saltines®, Town House® Crackers, Wheatables®, Munch'ems®, Pecan Sandies®, Chips Deluxe®, Fudge Shop ®, and E.L. Fudge®.
Program Challenge:
Keebler had identified several parcels of land for their new facility, but time was running out. It was February and they needed to be in their new building by the end of the year. Discussions with other developers did not provide acceptable land, a quality contractor, or non-contingent financing to pull the project together in time for the year end move.
Solution:
Delta Building Corporation, a local Butler Builder®, owned property identified by Keebler as an acceptable site. Delta quickly contacted Butler Real Estate after learning about the new 55,000 sq. ft. opportunity, and within a few days a full development package was presented to Keebler. Immediately following acceptance of the proposal, Butler Real Estate purchased the land and construction began. What started as an inquiry for a land sale in February was successfully converted into a brand new fully leased and occupied building in only nine months.
Customer Benefits:
The team of Butler Real Estate and Delta Building Corporation worked together in providing a single source for the development, construction, and financing services Keebler needed to move into their new facility on time. They were even able to have the new street address named "Hollow Tree Lane" in honor of the new tenant.
