Our Story
Few industries play a greater role in assuring environmental responsibility than the building construction industry. Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are issues that have far-reaching ramifications – from the companies that manufacture and supply building products, to the individuals who own, occupy and utilize building space, to the average citizen concerned about the environmental impact both today and over the lifecycle of the building.
The fabrication of a Butler® building system demonstrates our commitment to sustainability beyond the performance of the product itself. We take great measures to reduce our environmental footprint in the manufacturing process, and each BlueScope Building manufacturing facility in North America plays a vital role.
• Paint Finishes- Butler uses only structural finishes that meet or exceed current
EPA regulations and also use low-VOC paints, caulks and adhesives.
• Regional Shipping- Butler’s nine regional fabrication plants assure production is
close to most building sites, reducing transportation energy costs.
• Energy Efficient- Butler offers a wide variety of insulation systems and an
insulation thermal spacer block that significantly improves the in-place
performance of the roof insulation. We offer insulation systems that can achieve
R-40 or more when required.
• Cool Roofs- Butler’s cool metal roofs reduce the heat island effect, minimizing the
impact buildings have on the microclimate and human and wildlife habitats.
Reducing the external temperature of buildings reduces smog formation,
