Ora Nation: Making History in Atlanta, GA

1957 is a year that most of us read about in history books. Elvis Presley was still topping the charts, and gas was just 28 cents a gallon. History was made that year when the first satellite was launched into space. A young man in Atlanta was also starting a historical journey of his own. Ora Nation had his first day on the job at a new general contractor named Rainwater Construction. Little did he know where this job would lead. The family-owned company, founded by Cecil Rainwater, made the decision to become a Butler Builder® and sell pre-engineered metal building systems.

Ora Nation’s job was to learn the Butler Building System and help Rainwater design, price, sell, and erect the buildings. He continues to do this job more than 66 years later. In that time, he has worked on more than 2,500 Butler buildings, including 85 buildings for one client alone. Nation worked for two generations of the Rainwater family, making the Rainwater name synonymous with the Butler brand in Atlanta and throughout Georgia.

In recognition of a career that has spanned more than six decades and for his dedication to the Butler brand, Butler recognized Nation with the first-ever Butler Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rainwater has become one of the premiere design/build contractors in the Atlanta metro, with modern capabilities and traditional values. Rainwater is known for its quality and workmanship as a self-performing steel erector and start-to-finish building partner.

“Eighty-five buildings for a single client. If that’s not a testimony to quality, we don’t know what is.” - Steven Hudgins, President, Rainwater Construction

The company provides pre-construction, construction, structural steel, and roofing services.
