CPSC National Testing Laboratory Storage Facility

CPSC National Testing Laboratory Storage Facility

Project Details

Gaithersburg, MD
18,000 square feet
End Use: Warehouse

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) desired a design-build storage facility to hold sample products subjected to testing at the agency’s National Laboratory. Speed of construction was critical as the warehouse enabled the agency to consolidate at one location, a large volume of products previously stored at several leased sites. One additional goal was to make the appearance of the new facility compatible with neighboring residential housing.

BlueScope Construction pricing, building architectural features, and fast-track schedule won the project. The contract, through GSA, on the 18,000 square foot facility also covered construction of a retention pond and other site improvements associated with the ongoing development of the lab complex north of Washington, D.C.
