Jacksonville Naval Air Station

This aircraft hangar is the largest in the world for the US Navy. To meet the Navy’s demand for multiple openings for various aircraft, clear spans of 455′ and 428′ were necessary at the front of the hangar. To achieve these record-setting clear spans, Butler Heavy Structures utilized three-story-tall box trusses.

General Electric Company Corporate Hangar

Butler Heavy Structures supplied the structural steel design and materials for this striking 75,000-square-foot corporate hangar facility located north of New York City. Both the office and hangar are flooded with natural light supplied by translucent wall panels in the hangar and a Vistawall curtainwall system in the office.

Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County Renewable Energy Facility 2

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County can now boast that they have the cleanest and greenest waste-to-energy power plant in North America. The recently opened facility utilizes state-of-the-art air pollution control technologies and has the capacity to process up to 1 million tons of post-recycled waste annually. Butler Heavy Structures supplied the Tipping, APC, Ash, and Maintenance buildings as well as roof and wall materials for multiple other buildings.

Southwest Airlines Maintenance Hangar

Butler Heavy Structures designed and supplied the structural steel and cladding systems for this new 80,000 sq. ft. maintenance hangar for Southwest Airlines located at Dallas Love Field Airport. A unique framing system was required to meet the Owner’s requirement for a two-bay opening on the front of the hangar and a one-bay opening on the side of the hangar to accommodate three Boeing 737-700 Next Generation series aircraft.

New York Giants Practice Facility

The new indoor training facility for the 2008 Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants, has become a reality. Butler Heavy Structures teamed with a local builder, Hance Construction, Inc., to provide the steel building shell and erection services for the massive project. The spacious facility has a clearspan of 214′ with a gambrel shaped roof that provides 55′ at the eaves and 80′ at the ridge to accommodate kickoff practice.

McDermott Fabrication Facility

Butler Heavy Structures designed and supplied the structural steel for McDermott’s fabrication and assembly buildings, where they build off-shore oil and gas platforms prior to shipping the assembled platforms to the Gulf of Mexico. The open-ended assembly building was designed so the cranes could roll onto the 120′-external runway system for their short trip to their sea-going transport. Due to the structures being open to the environment and near the gulf, structurals were supplied galvanized.

Tinker Air Force Base Bldg 2283 Multi-Bay Hangar

Butler Heavy Structures designed and supplied the structural steel and cladding systems for this massive multi-bay hangar for the newly formed Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) at Tinker Air Force Base. The multi-bay hangar is configured to house up to two KC-46A tankers and one more in the single bay hangar.

Men in Black™ Alien Attack™

This 55,000-square-foot building houses one of Universal Studios’ premiere attractions. Alien Attack takes 3D technology one step further by having the rider actually interact with the ride and make choices that determine the final “outcome”. Butler Heavy Structures provided the structural design and materials for the building that houses the attraction.

JetBlue Airways Hangar

Known as the JetBlue Technical Operations Campus, this 100,000 sq. ft. facility located at John F. Kennedy International airport provides space for offices, workshops, and a state-of-the-art automated parts retrieval and storage system.
