A NEW ERA OF BUILDING PERFORMANCE
Transform your building with Butler’s retrofit solutions, a low-disruption approach delivering quality improvements that extend the life of your building.
Whether you’re replacing a roof or modernizing the full envelope, each solution is designed to improve energy efficiency, enhance protection and restore performance with minimal disruption.
Retrofit is not a temporary fix. It is engineered renewal built to perform for decades to come.
At Butler, we apply the same system level engineering used in new construction to existing structures. Every solution is designed with precision, restoring performance from the roof down while minimizing disruption to your operations.
REROOFING SYSTEMS
Low-Profile Metal-Over-Metal
Designed for low-slope metal roofs, this system installs the MR-24® standing seam directly over existing through-fastened panels. The low-profile approach minimizes added height while improving weathertight performance and long-term durability.
High-Profile Metal-Over-Metal
Designed for existing exposed fastener or standing seam roofs, this system creates deeper cavities to accommodate additional insulation. As an integrated reroof solution, it can support insulation depths of up to 11 inches and thermal values up to R-38, depending on project conditions.
Slope Build-Up Framing System
Designed for flat or low-slope roofs, this system re-establishes slope, improves drainage and increases insulation capacity through a single, integrated retrofit solution.
INDUSTRY BACKED
PERFORMANCE
Butler reroof solutions meet or exceed applicable national standards, with approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FM Global and Miami-Dade County. System performance is validated through rigorous third-party testing to ensure long-term durability, safety and weather resistance.
• UL uplift resistance testing of roof assemblies
• UL impact resistance testing of prepared roof covering materials
• Air and water infiltration testing to support long-term envelope performance
MR-24® ROOF SYSTEM
Setting the standard for standing seam roofs – as the industry’s first.
Engineered for superior installation, the MR-24 roof system delivers superior protection through its monolithic steel surface, pre-punched holes and exclusive 360-degree Pittsburgh double-lock seams. Every component works in concert to ensure precise alignment, reduce field modifications and exceed the industry's most stringent weather ratings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a retrofit and do Butler retrofits help reduce downtime, improve energy efficiency, and refresh older buildings?
A building retrofit is a comprehensive modernization of an existing structure. Unlike a simple reroof, a retrofit can include upgrading the roof, adding slope build ups for better drainage, improving wall systems, enhancing insulation and energy performance, modernizing exterior appearance, or integrating new additions with the current building.
Butler retrofit solutions are typically more cost effective than full reconstruction or relocation and are specifically engineered to:
- Reduce downtime: Many Butler systems can be installed over existing components, minimizing tear off and allowing businesses to continue operating during construction.
- Improve energy efficiency: Butler roofs, walls, and insulation systems increase thermal performance, lower energy usage, and help bring older buildings closer to current efficiency standards.
- Refresh older buildings: Modern Butler wall panels, colors, and profiles can dramatically update curb appeal, extend building life, and provide a contemporary look.
Can a new Butler roof be installed over my existing roof?
In many cases, yes. Our metal-over-metal reroof systems are engineered to install over existing through-fastened or standing seam roofs, reducing disruption and supporting continued operations. A project assessment determines whether an overlay or a full tear-off is the right solution.
Will I need to shut down my building during reroof installation?
Most Butler reroof systems are designed to be installed while the facility remains active. MOM and slope build-up approaches minimize disruption and help maintain protection throughout the process.
What if my building isn’t a Butler building?
Butler reroof systems can be engineered to fit most structures, including those built by other manufacturers. Factory-punched components and precise detailing support accurate alignment across varied structural conditions.
How do I know if I need a full tear-off or an overlay?
A tear-off is typically recommended when the existing roof has structural issues, water intrusion that cannot be isolated, or code requirements that prevent overlay. When the underlying structure is sound, metal-over-metal solutions provide a reliable, low-disruption alternative.
Can reroofing improve energy performance?
Yes. High-profile MOM and slope build-up systems can create deeper insulation cavities that support improved thermal performance. The specific gains depend on project conditions and energy code requirements.
How long does an MR-24® roof last?
MR-24 roofs are engineered for long-term performance, supported by decades of field data across varied climates. Actual service life depends on conditions, maintenance and application, but the system is recognized for its reliability and longevity.
Will a reroof help address recurring leaks?
A properly engineered reroof system can resolve issues tied to aging fasteners, seam failures or insufficient drainage. MOM and slope build-up solutions establish a new, precisely aligned roof assembly designed to support improved watertight performance.
Can Butler reroof systems change the slope of my roof?
Yes. Slope build-up framing can re-establish or increase roof slope to improve drainage and correct ponding conditions on flat or low-slope roofs.
Are Butler reroof systems tested or certified?
Butler reroof systems use engineered components tested for structural performance and wind uplift resistance. Specific system certifications depend on the roof type and project requirements.
