Riverhead Building Supply

With the know-how and experience of Butler Manufacturing, a local construction company finds a better, more efficient path for its new distribution center.

Project
Overview

To support continued growth across the New York metropolitan area, Riverhead Building Supply (RBS) required a new 124,000-square-foot distribution facility engineered for strength, speed and operational efficiency.

Partnering with local Butler Builder® Radon Construction, the team relied on Butler Manufacturing® systems to deliver measurable performance gains. The Primary Framing structural system provided long-bay spacing up to 60 feet, eliminating 24 interior columns from the original concept and creating a streamlined, obstruction-free layout for material handling.

The facility is protected by the proven MR-24® standing-seam roof system, engineered for unmatched weathertightness and long-term durability. Local crews installed the roof across the entire structure in just three weeks — a testament to Butler’s precision-fabricated components and efficient assembly process.

“By removing half of the columns in the building from the original design, we’re now able to more efficiently store and organize inventory in the building,” said Kevin Goodale of RBS.

Along with engineered precision in design, Butler products helped make the building process quick and efficient.

“RBS pushed for speed, so we added manpower to make it happen. We brought in another erector and increased the size of the team installing the roof, which helped us wrap the install up on schedule,” said Craig Plansker of Radon Construction.

When it comes to advice for other owners looking to work with Butler, Goodale knows just where to start.

“Take the time to get the details right during the planning stage and involve your design-build contractors to ensure you end up with a building that maximizes return on your investment.”

By removing half of the columns in the building from the original design, we’re now able to more efficiently store and organize inventory in the building. The layout flexibility achieved by the Butler structural system allows our operations to run more efficiently.
