After nearly three decades in a small rented space, a community parish partners with a Butler Builder to create a home precision engineered for sustained use, growth and long term structural assurance.

Project
Overview

Rising on the west side of Flagstaff, Ariz., Grace Community Church reflects the power of precision-engineered systems aligned to a clear purpose. Delivered by Building & Engineering Construction Southwest Inc., a Butler Builder®, the project demonstrates how disciplined design and proven performance come together to support a growing community destination with confidence.

The building is composed of seven Butler units configured with both single-slope and double-slope rooflines. Reverse canopies define key entry points, providing protection from the elements while reinforcing intuitive circulation. The structure’s form is deliberate and efficient, balancing architectural presence with constructability and long-term performance.

At the roof level, the Butler MR-24® Roof System anchors the project. Designed to manage thermal movement and deliver long-term weathertight performance, MR-24 is well suited for Flagstaff’s high-elevation conditions. The system provides durability and reliability without compromise, ensuring the building remains protected as usage increases over time.

The exterior envelope is completed with StylWall® II Fluted Wall and StylWall® II Flat Wall systems. Together, these wall systems create a cohesive façade that delivers both visual depth and structural integrity. The combination allows for architectural variation while maintaining system consistency and performance across the building footprint.

Inside, the structure supports clear spans and flexible layouts that allow spaces to adapt to changing needs. The building is designed for high occupancy and frequent use, with circulation and gathering areas that feel open, stable and secure. The structural system enables future growth without sacrificing efficiency or requiring extensive modification.

Immediately upon entering the building, people feel both welcomed and safe. Most days of the week, the building is hosting activities and the spaces are already being pushed to capacity. The building has exceeded what we anticipated and has allowed us to grow in ways we could not before.
