Triangle Community Church pre-engineered metal building campus with standing-seam roofs

Triangle Community Church

A campus expansion with a high-performance youth facility engineered around flexibility, clarity and long-term value. Using a clearspan structural system, a Butler Builder® delivered a durable, adaptable space that strengthens youth engagement and supports future growth.

Project
Overview

Triangle Community Church (TCC) has grown steadily for more than two decades by taking a strategic, family-focused approach to ministry. As attendance increased, church leaders recognized the need for a dedicated facility that supported long-term growth and delivered a high-quality experience for students.

Their goal was clear: create a space built with intention, engineered for flexibility and aligned with the needs of the next generation.

TCC partnered with Bobbitt Design Build, Inc., a Butler Builder® with decades of design-build expertise. Bobbitt previously delivered TCC’s 17,000-square-foot worship facility in 2002 using a clearspan structural system and the MR-24® roof system. That shared history established a foundation of trust built on performance and proven results.

The versatile structural system easily allowed for high ceilings and large windows.

“It was easy to defer to Bobbitt because of the quality building and guidance they’ve delivered for us in the past,” said George Freebersyser of TCC.

As TCC shaped its vision for the Next Generation Discipleship Center, the team engaged parents, volunteers and students to define functional needs and priorities. The result was a clear set of performance and design goals that informed every decision — from sightlines and storage to circulation and durability.

Throughout planning, the design evolved to balance budget and performance. An early A-frame concept transitioned to a clerestory roof design, enabled in part by the flexibility of the Butler structural system.

Using the structural system from Butler Manufacturing allowed us to create a dramatic aesthetic impact without making a big dent in the budget.

The structual system also supported high-volume open spaces without interior structural interruptions, strengthening the center’s ability to accommodate worship services, events and youth gatherings. Retractable bleachers, suggested by Bobbitt, added further versatility and improved functional value.

The industrial interior design selected by TCC integrated seamlessly with the Butler system, offering long-term durability and reduced maintenance. Raw structural materials serve as interior finishes, protecting the space from daily wear and providing a resilient environment for student use.

As construction began, Bobbitt maintained disciplined project management despite extended weather delays. The team delivered the facility on schedule — essential to supporting TCC’s planned events and commitments.

“Everyone here is very pleased with Bobbitt. Once the weather cleared up, they held to the original completion date, which really helped us,” said Donalson.

The completed Next Generation Discipleship Center provides a flexible, high-performance space that aligns with TCC’s mission and prepares the church for continued growth.

“This building was tailor-made to suit our needs and will be critical to our growth as we move forward,” said Ward.

Early results reinforced the impact: youth engagement and attendance increased immediately after opening, supporting TCC’s long-term vision for community and outreach.

As TCC looks ahead, the path forward remains clear. The church plans to expand its campus and continue its partnership with Bobbitt and Butler — proven collaborators who deliver with precision, performance and assurance.

“As we continue to plan into the future, we have no hesitation with repeating this process again with Bobbitt and with Butler,” Freebersyser said.
