Project
Overview
After nearly 30 years in Amish country in Pennsylvania, Sheds Unlimited needed to expand its manufacturing and distribution footprint. As the company outgrew its previous facility, J.E. Horst Building & Remodeling — a Butler Builder — was chosen to deliver a structure rooted in engineered clarity and operational continuity.
The building’s primary framing utilizes a precision-engineered Butler® structure to ensure strength across wide clear spans while supporting continuous manufacturing flows. The Butler MR-24® Roof System caps the facility with industry-proven performance, emphasizing long-term durability and weathertight coverage that protects equipment, materials and personnel.
Shadowall™ EX wall panels complete the envelope with resilient attachment and a clean exterior plane that meets both functional and aesthetic goals.
From the outset, the design intent was clear: deliver a building that supports large-scale production, offers an inviting customer interface and reflects thoughtful architectural presence.
The customer entrance achieves this with a refined canopy and glass facade that signals welcome and performance. This area anchors the facility’s public face and sets a tone of professionalism that complements the heavy manufacturing spaces within.
Within the production areas, the Butler building’s engineered load paths support long, unobstructed runs of manufacturing equipment and material handling. The structural system balances capacity with flexibility, allowing Sheds Unlimited to scale operations without compromise.
The MR-24 roof and Shadowall EX wall panels together provide structural integrity that stands up to Pennsylvania’s seasonal climate demands and supports uninterrupted workflow.
Leadership from Sheds Unlimited underscored the value of the new space to their business. They emphasized the design’s role in keeping production flowing while elevating their brand presence.
The facility’s thoughtful integration of customer access with heavy industrial activity reflects careful planning and performance-driven design.
The completed building stands as a structural benchmark for manufacturing facilities of this scale. Every element was selected for performance and longevity. The result is a facility that not only meets Sheds Unlimited’s operational needs but sets a foundation for continued growth and customer engagement well into the future.
Sheds Unlimited used a small facility on family property for nearly 30 years before updating to a massive clearspan facility using Butler system that allows for better customer focus and distribution efficiency.
